Congress Brijuni

BRIJUNI

The fourteen islands and islets of Brijuni, located NW of Pula, Istrias largest town, are inarguably the most interesting part of the west coast of Istria. The luscious landscapes of Veliki Brijun, the varied submarine world and and rich cultural heritage are the main reasons why this area was declared a national park in 1983.
Today the Brijuni archipelago is an exclusive tourist destination, but its touristic history reaches back to the end of 19th century. The islands were promoted as health resort and a venue for the social elite.
Their exceptional natural beauty, the wealth of historical heritage and tourist qualities are a common thread linking the past, the present and the future.
